Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common MarketBuddy MCP issues.

I can't sign in during the connector setup

The MarketBuddy login page won't accept my password. Use the same email and password you use to log in to the MarketBuddy app at app.marketbuddy.com.au. If that password isn't working there either, reset it.

I don't have a MarketBuddy account. Sign up for a 14-day free trial and connect your AI assistant on day one.

My AI assistant says "connection failed" or "server unavailable"

  1. Check that you copied the URL exactly as shown - https://mcp.marketbuddy.com.au/mcp, no trailing slash.
  2. Try removing and re-adding the connector. In Claude or ChatGPT, that's done from the same Connectors settings panel where you added it.
  3. If MarketBuddy is having an outage, our status will be reflected on the MarketBuddy website.

My assistant doesn't seem to be using MarketBuddy

  • Mention MarketBuddy explicitly. Say "using MarketBuddy, find…" instead of just "find…". Most assistants prefer to answer from their own knowledge unless you nudge them.
  • Check the connector is enabled for the conversation. ChatGPT and some other clients require you to switch the connector on per-chat from the + menu.
  • Allow the permission prompt. The first time MarketBuddy is used, your assistant may ask if it's allowed to call MarketBuddy. If you click Deny by mistake, look for the connector toggle in your assistant's settings and re-enable it.

I get an authentication or 401 error

Your sign-in session may have expired. Remove the MarketBuddy connector and add it again - you'll be prompted to sign in fresh. If the problem keeps happening, contact support with the name of your AI assistant and the time of the error.

I'm seeing the wrong suburb or state

Make sure you tell the assistant the state as well as the suburb when there are duplicate suburb names across Australia (for example, there's a Richmond in VIC, NSW, and TAS). Better still, give the postcode.

Find retail listings in Richmond VIC 3121.

My results look stale

MarketBuddy MCP returns the same data you'd see in the MarketBuddy app - typically refreshed multiple times per day. If you suspect a specific listing is out of date, look it up in the app to confirm, and let us know via the Support Portal.

Still stuck?

Reach our team through the Support Portal. It helps if you can include:

  • Which AI assistant you're using (Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) and its version.
  • The exact prompt you sent.
  • The error message your assistant showed, if any.
